Acacia wood test tube spice rack

Finally, a decent spice rack

Finally, a decent spice rack

We’ve always had difficulty maintaining our spices. A look into any of our spice cupboard or drawers reveals a mess of spices from Tellicherry black pepper to organic cinnamon (the real kind, of course) recovered on a visit to Goa, India to home dried oregano from our backyard gardens. But one thing is consistent: none of us have ever found – even given their seeming ubiquity – a spice rack that looks nice and offers good functionality – that is it doesn’t take up too much space and allows you to see what spice is what without having to dig, scramble or read.

This acacia wood spice rack keeps your spices in easy-to-see-what-they-are clear borosilicate (e.g. Pyrex lab quality) glass test tubes. Even has a bit of a (if refined) steampunk look. Definitely in the millenial style.

They are made by Roost, the same company that brought us those sweet handblown recycled glass terrariums.

Comes in 8 spice and 12 spice models, free standing or wall mounted and with or without organic herbs and spices. Prices range from $36 – $118 depending on what you pick from these options.

UPDATE: Velocity appears to no longer be carrying this product (I will keep the link in case they bring it back. In the meantime, there are a couple others I have found – one with a metal rack and a much more lab-like looking one with a wooden base.
