Best steampunk gift ever: Alkindus Distiller

Steampunk accessory with a great benefit: booze!

Ah the distiller. Where would we be without it? Imagine a world with no whiskey or vodka or tequila. Less violent? Maybe. Less sex? For sure. But for certain, the sets for Frankenstein and other science movies would be less interesting, for it is the destiller with it’s intertwining glass coils and beakers and bulbs that really has that science-y look.

We think this distiller looks extra steampunk-ish. It’s imported from Spain, mounted on walnut with
“Mississippi Destil” engraved on the copper back piece. The glass is borosilicate – lab glass – so it’s heat resistant and durable. You put some type of fermented liquid in, heat it with the oil lamp and the alcohol and other volatiles evaporate, then cool in the glass coil, eventually dripping down into the final beaker to be used as, um, perfume. Because it’s actually technically illegal to distill alcohol in the U.S. – even for personal use.

This distiller is designed after Alkindus’ model created 1,100 years ago.

$200.
