It’s true – bottled water has such a ridiculously high environmental cost. But if you live places like we do (Los Angeles, New York), sometimes the tap water ain’t so tasty. Seriously, the stuff down here in Souther California is pretty nasty (rated endangered). The good news is that filtration has come a long way.
The penultimate (which actually means next to ultimate for the pedants out there – the ultimate is an under-the-sink model) is the Guyot Designs TapGuard Filter which attaches to a Nalgene or Camelback or other system and filters out 95% of chlorine, as well as other bad stuff. It’s simple and each replaceable filter lasts for 100 liters.
That’s a lot fewer water bottles.
