Roger Wood is a clock maker in the old tradition, based in Toronto, who builds unique crafts that highlight a certain classicism with a whimsical nod to futurism. He has numerous clock designs, including his “exploding clocks” series, all of which appear as if they have exploded out some gears but  continue to slog on through time. The one at left is a glass dome clock that appears to show the inner workings…though a closer look reveals it’s parts to be a myriad of artifacts that may or may not actually have anything to do with the actual functioning of a clock.

His work has a surreal quality to it, showing the machinations of man in a manner that is somewhat artifice but still functional and compelling to behold.
